TIRANA FORTESS
Tirana Fortress "Kalaja e Tiranës", also known as Justinian's Fortress, is an Albanian cultural heritage monument located in Tirana. The construction of the Byzantine castle dates back to 1300 and is the junction of major Roman roads. Tirana Castle was once the main citadel of the Albanian capital. Inside the former defensive walls, there are now many tourist facilities, including restaurants and hotels.
SKANDERBEG SQUARE
The monument to the fighter for the independence of Albania, which rises in the center of the Albanian capital, is a kind of "zero meridian", from where tourist routes around the city begin. And this is no coincidence, because most of the sights of Tirana are located either on the square itself, or in its immediate vicinity.
EFEM BEY MOSQUE
The Ephem Bey Mosque is a religious building in Tirana dating back to the end of the 18th century. Behind the first door of the temple there is a commemorative plaque indicating that the mosque was built by Mulla Bey, a wealthy man from Tirana who donated money to charity. Mulla Bey laid the foundation of this temple in 1791, but he failed to finish the walls and domes of the mosque, as well as the interior and exterior decoration, because. he died after 1807. Mullah's son, Haji (Nachkhi) Efem Bey continued the construction of his father.
TANNERS' BRIDGE
Tanners' Bridge is a historical build of the Ottoman period, which was built in 18th century. In the old days there was a small stream here, but today it has dried up. The bridge was built by Albanian farmers to supply more of their goods to the city.
Miraculously, the bridge was not destroyed during the rapid construction of new residential buildings during the communist period. In the 1990s, the Tanners' Bridge was cleared and fully restored, and the bridge is now only used for pedestrians.
